BFGoodrich g-Force Sport COMP-2 Tire Review & Rating
- Exceptional dry and wet traction
- Cornering grip and stability
- Steering is quick and responsive
- Road noise as tire wears
If you have a sporty muscle car with gobs of pavement eating torque, then you need a set of tires that say “I’m a racer” written all over them. That’s exactly what you get with BFGoodrich g-Force COMP-2 ultra-high performance summer tires. They are that finishing touch to the classiest sports cars, sport coupes, performance sedans and today’s sleek muscle cars. Placed on a rigid, high speed road test on both dry and wet pavement, they outperformed their stiffest competitors, receiving a big thumbs up from their professional test car drivers.
The tire’s internal structure is a serious enhancement of today’s technology with an ETEC (Equal Tension Containment Field) System of spiraling nylon stabilizing the tread area and optimizing the contact patch, allowing hard cornering and speed. The silica-infused COMP-2 compound is molded into a directional tread design with g-hook intermediate ribs and twin center ribs with stable shoulder blocks to give you the ultimate in steering and braking response.
Get ready for a quick response when gearing up into racing mode. These g-Force tires will leap at your command. They take off quickly on both dry and wet pavement without issue. Hugging that road closely, they’ll continue to provide superior traction as you accelerate, take quick turns and climb hills. When it’s time to hit the brakes, this tire doesn’t leave you screaming “whoa”. It stops quicker than most in its class and leaves you feeling confident and in complete control.
Cornering – Steering
In our opinion, you simply aren’t going to get any better for full control over your high performance vehicle than with a set of the BF Goodrich g-Force tires. They were built to take those sharp curves and to maneuver quickly through traffic without slipping or skidding. The steering remains very responsive whether on dry roads or wet, hard cornering without sway or losing momentum.
The g-Force High Performance tires are strictly a summer tire and are not engineered for winter use. They should not be used in freezing temperatures or on snow and ice.
Ride Comfort – Road Noise
When it comes to ultra-high performing tires, comfort is not usually something you can count on, but that is not the case here. This tire rides more comfortably than you expect during those times you are cruising or taking things a bit more easy with your vehicle.
Road noise is about the only area where we could see improving. As the tire wears down the road noise becomes a bit more pronounced. Of course, this is generally the case with all tires in this class and it’s not really a big concern. We’ll take seat of your pants performance over a little road noise any day of the week.
The Goodrich g-Force Sport COMP-2 is an upgrade of its original g-Force tire, with a compound derived from racing technology that responds to wet and dry grip without sacrificing tread wear. Yes, they wear quicker under race conditions or when constantly pushed to the limits on the street, but last a longer than expected under more normal use. We’ve heard drivers getting 25,000 miles or better under somewhat normal combined highway and city use.
BF Goodrich includes a limited tread warranty on this model. There is a six year warranty on the workmanship and materials against defects. The warranty extends to a free replacement tire for the first year or 2/32″ of depth, then prorated to the remaining 2/32″ of tread depth.
