Hankook Optimo H727 Review & Rating
- Dry, wet and winter traction
- Comfortable ride
- 100K mile warranty
- Tire gets noisier as it ages
Designed for drivers who wanted to get the best in all-season performance while also having a long lasting tread life is what the Hankook Optimo H727 is all about. Built for drivers of all types of coupes, minivans, sedans and crossovers, this is Hankook’s premium all-season touring tire that is available in 14 to 18 inch sizes, and comes with a UTQG rating of 700-A-B.
With its symmetric tread pattern and high-tech tread compound, the Optimo H727 delivers very good overall road performance on dry or wet pavement. The custom blended compound allows the tire to have increased traction and a longer tread life, which is what most every driver wants from their tires.
Four circumferential grooves aid in evacuating water when driving in the rain and increasing hydroplane resistance. This tire is also good at braking and acceleration. We found quicker than average stopping distance regardless of whether the road was wet or dry, while acceleration was confidence inspiring.
Cornering – Steering
The tire’s continuous center rib and tapered lateral slots enhance steering response and feedback. Though not a high performance tire like feel, for a touring all-season tire it is more than adequate.
Highway speed cornering is sure and stable as well. The tire simply goes where its pointed without putting up a fuss.
As an all-season tire, the H727 holds its own when winter road conditions roll around. Though not built specifically as a winter tire, the tire features hundreds of high-density sipes around the tread that provide biting edges when driving on snow and ice. Between the tread design and siping, this tire may surprise you in how well it handles in the snow.
Ride Comfort – Road Noise
The Hankook H727 is definitely a favorite of many because of the smooth, quiet and comfortable ride it delivers compared to other all-season tires. This is because the tire is designed using the latest in tire technology such as Carbon Compounding Technology and Footprint Shape Optimization. Combined, this new technology makes a noticeable difference in providing a more pleasant driving experience.
You can expect a longer lasting tread life from the H727 due in part to its 700 UTQG rating. Hankook’s unique tread compound has put a real emphasis on treadwear and it shows. If you’re the type of driver who doesn’t want to have to be replacing their tires every year or two, then this is a tire for you.
Hankook stands behind the Optimo H727 with one of the longest tread guarantees in the industry at 100,000 miles.
