Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 Review & Rating
- Dry and wet traction
- Braking performance
- Ride comfort
- Steering response at high speeds
Built for high performance sports cars, coupes and sedans, the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 ultra high performance summer tire promises excellent stability, quick steering response and great traction. Available in sizes to fit most any application, the Hankook K110 is also affordably priced to fit most every budget. With that in mind, we set out to see how well it stacked up against other summer tires by measuring it in several key areas.
In dry conditions, the V12 Evo K110 displays a great deal of traction and an excellent amount of rolling resistance at higher speeds, thanks in large part to the High Tg Polymer and Specific Resin compound from which the tire is made.
Another strength for this tire is its braking performance. The K110 has some of the best braking we’ve seen among tires in this class. It’s able to stop on a dime, bringing the vehicle to a complete halt with minimal effort and loss of traction. This appears to hold true regardless of the speed at which your vehicle is travelling.
The tire did suffer somewhat in wet road conditions, though it still performed well above average. At higher speeds, stopping became slightly more difficult, and though we never experienced a complete loss of traction, it was clear that the tire’s real strength lay on dry roads. As a whole, the Ventus V12 offered virtually peerless traction regardless of weather and road conditions.
Cornering – Steering
The first thing we noticed in our cornering and steering tests was that the V12 Evo felt somewhat imprecise at high speeds, as well as a little bit soft in steering response time. In spite of this, the tire took corners extremely well on both flat and uneven surfaces. Though not on the line of tires like the Michelin Super Sport, it still is a lot of fun hitting the corners with confident grip.
The Hankook K110 is a summer tire and not designed to be driven on snow or ice so we did not test it in this area.
Ride Comfort – Road Noise
The V12 Evo is one of the more quiet and comfortable riding tires among high performance summer tires. In our test, the vehicle offered us effortless straight line tracking and a smooth, comfortable ride with a great deal of stability to boot.
With a UTQC rating of 280, the K110 should last you somewhere between 20,000 to 30,000 miles before it needs to be replaced. Though it is by design not as durable as an all-season tire, this still makes it a great economical choice for summer driving, and it actually boasts a bit more durability than some other summer tires on the market. We’ve even heard drivers getting north of 40,000 miles from the tread before needing to replace them.
Hankook offers a limited tread warranty on the K110.
While the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 is not the highest ranking tire in this class, it does offer a great deal of performance, and the lower price makes it a very good value overall.
