Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Review & Rating
- Dry traction and cornering grip
- Smooth and comfortable ride
- Reduced road noise
- Wet handling
Sporting an eco-friendly tread makeup and touring all-season tread design, the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season offers the latest in tire technology for drivers of SUV’s, crossover and luxury pickups. That said, we put the Scorpion Verde AS to the test to see how well it compares to other models in this class.
When you’re looking for a high-quality tire, good traction on all types of road surfaces is a must. We have say that this model delivers some of the best dry traction you’ll find with any tire in this class. The asymmetric tread pattern is optimized to provide unparalleled traction, something that Pirelli has exceled at with this tire.
Four circumferential grooves and lateral sipes around the tread add to wet traction, but this is one of the few areas where we would like to see just a bit of improvement. It’s very good, just not great on wet roads when pushed to its limits. That said, for normal driving around town it holds the road firmly in the rain.
Cornering – Steering
Some tires that are specifically designed for safe driving under all weather conditions focus on providing traction while ignoring cornering and steering control, but that’s not the case with Scorpion Verde All Season. When you need to make quick, sharp turns or execute delicate steering moves, the tires respond quickly to the way you turn the wheel, keeping you safe and in control of your vehicle.
This model scores high marks for winter handling. The tire’s dense sipe design and deeper tread help it avoid slippage, even on icy and snowy roads. You’ll also find that driving through slush or over melting ice no big issue.
Ride Comfort – Road Noise
Nobody wants to spend the entirety of even a short trip in their SUV or crossover being overwhelmed by road noise. It prevents you from concentrating on the road and can make conversations with passengers an impossibility. We found that road noise is nearly non-existent on this tire. In addition, these tires are compliant in accordance with the most recent industry standards for noise reduction.
Ride comfort is an area that Pirelli put a lot of effort into this model and it shows. Even driving over bumps and imperfect road surfaces is not a bone-jarring event. The ride is very smooth and quiet on the highway, making longer excursions more enjoyable.
Due in part to the optimized tread design and new technology, tread life is longer lasting on the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season than you might expect. We’ve heard drivers getting well over 50,000 miles from the tires and still having plenty of tread left.
All Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season tires are warranted for either 50,000 miles or 60,000 miles depending on their speed rating.
With their solid performance, comfortable ride and long lasting treadlife, the Scorpion Verde All Season ranks among the top tires in their class and are an excellent value in new tires.
